What motivates you to be a Cypress Ambassador?
Mentoring others is one of the best things about my current job. Having an opportunity to mentor others and help them grow their Cypress abilities is my key motivator for joining the Cypress Ambassador program.
How do you currently help others that are either using Cypress or interested in using Cypress?
I'm already a Cypress Ambassador of sorts at my current job, where I'm pushing for as many web projects as possible to be using Cypress, giving multiple company-wide talks on using Cypress.
On top of that, I make myself constantly available to my teammates to help them learn and better understand Cypress. I'm also pretty active on StackOverflow.
What is your favorite Cypress feature?
`cy.intercept()`. The ability to easily observe and overwrite network traffic is a gamechanger!
What is your favorite "Cypress Best Practice" and why?
Tests should always be able to be run independently from one another and still pass.
Writing independent and completely determinant tests is crucial to creating high-value tests. It allows you to have increased confidence your test results and more easily troubleshoot any regressions that your test suite finds.
Outside of work, what are your favorite things to do (hobbies, passions, etc.)?
I have a pretty substantial vinyl record collection, and I purchased a fixer-upper home in 2023 that is taking up a lot of my time recently.
What is one professional milestone you are proud of? (an accomplishment, celebration, recognition, etc.)
I developed a (now-defunct) test automation tool for Roku testing in 2020 and was featured on the Roku Dev Blog!
For new users - what is the best way to "get started" with Cypress?
I am a hands-on learner, so my advice is to always just dive into a sample test project and start seeing what is possible with Cypress!
