Webcast Recording | Using Code Smells to Fix Flaky Tests in Cypress

November 26, 2020

By The Cypress Team

Last week, our VP of Engineering, Gleb Bahmutov, and Web Platform Lead at Big Nerd Ranch, Josh Justice, presented a live webcast on the concept of code smells as a way to categorize problems in code, and how this concept can make it easier to fix flaky Cypress tests.

Some of the key topics they covered include:

  • Why test flake is so difficult to troubleshoot
  • How the concept of code smells can make troubleshooting flake easier
  • How to apply fixes for three specific Cypress code smells  extracted from patterns in a large frontend application

The questions we received were all fantastic—thanks to all who attended the live broadcast via Zoom, and to those who asked live questions via Slido. If you asked a question that wasn't answered during the broadcast, you can check the answers here.

You can watch the webcast recording below:

The presentation slides can also be found here.

We’d also like to give a shout out to the viewers who gave us some incredible feedback via our post-webcast survey. If you watched the webcast and completed the survey, keep an eye on your mailbox for a surprise!

If you enjoyed our webcast, stay tuned—we have many more broadcasts planned for the near future. To stay updated, follow us on Twitter.

Until next time!
